Well as you have probably guessed - Gavin is still busy driving (over 4500km now) and keeping the car mechanically sound.
Kids are still in school holiday mode, so are also not keeping the bog updated (but not for much longer)
So ... where was I up to??
We have been in Sth Aust for the past 6 days.
We have stayed at a couple of homesteads. At Spear Creek Station we watched the jillaroo round up the sheep on the motorbike, and bought a fresh lamb roast which we ate last night and it was beautiful.
We spent 2 nights at Mt Ive Station. There was a bit a rain in the morning, so our 4WDing was delayed as the clay tracks were a bit slippery. Our kids hang around with the farm kids and loved it. Hand-feeding the orphan goats, riding the pony, feeding the chooks and collecting the eggs.
By the afternoon, the roads were dry so we went out to Lake Gairdner. A huge saltlake where 'speedweek' is usually held, but not this year as it's too wet on the lake for the motorbikes to do 200-300km /hr. Sat around with beer and nibbles taking in the view and lots of photos, but then cloud come over right at sunset.
Down to Ceduna to collect all the car parts we had ordered in for various cars.We also restocked with fresh meat and vegies. The boys spent a morning installing bits, then we were off north.
Spent 2 days on Googs Track. A wonderful drive over sand dunes through low mallee bushland. Tyres were down to only 10 - 15 psi, and we got over all the dunes easily.
Will try and catch up on a bit of atomic bomb testing history at Woomera tomorrow - ANZAC Day.
